I saw a meme on Facebook that said, “Women aren’t that difficult. If you made a mistake, tell her you’re sorry. If she made a mistake, tell her you’re sorry.” Men will laugh and agree. Women will laugh and half of them will agree as well. The truth is that an apology goes a long way to calming angry waters.
An apology alone isn’t the answer to every misunderstanding, argument, or fight. But, when you apologize you show that you care about the other person’s feelings, as long as the apology is honest and heartfelt. Empty words are just that.
Women aren’t really as mysterious as men want to think they are. We simply want to feel that we are loved and cared for. Men need to learn how to show us that love and caring in a way that we recognize.
It’s not a big secret that men and women speak different languages. Men have a hard time understanding a woman’s sensitivities. Women can’t understand why men are so hard and seem to feel nothing. Many women wear their hearts on their sleeves, while men are proud to claim they never shed a tear. It’s not manly.
When a woman is hurt, for whatever the reason or cause, the bigger hurt comes when there is no apology to follow. If the person who hurt her just walks away or pretends it never happened (or worse, derides her for being hurt), it can create scars on her heart that never heal.
However, If the offender really cares he/she will do everything possible to make amends for whatever action caused the hurt. Some things can’t be fixed or replaced, but even asking “what can I do to make it up to you?” might be enough to show that it mattered.
And that’s the key. Women need to know that they matter. That you care. That they are loved and cared for. Women aren’t a mystery. We just need to know that we are loved and cared for in a sensitive way.
It’s not the big things. Sure, some women want the big flashy rings or the expensive cars. But most women want to hear “I love you to the moon” whispered in her ear in the moonlight on a misty summer evening. Or “I’m sorry I hurt you.” when someone has done something that requires an apology.
