Finding peace in a world full of chaos is a must when you are an empath. This world we live in today is filled with noise, destruction and negativity. As an empath we are susceptible to these things and they can have a serious effect on our health. So what do you do when the world around you is in turmoil?
Peace to each of us is a different thing. For some of us, peace is escaping to a beach or a park where we can sit in silence with our thoughts. Others may find it digging in a garden with our fingers in the soil. For myself it is writing out words into a notebook or creating some form of artwork.
Obviously, the ideal answer is to walk away from the origin of the chaos and noise, and find our peace where we choose. However, not all of us can hide away when the world becomes too much. Responsibilities get in the way.
When life becomes overwhelming to the point we can’t handle it we need to find even a few minutes to find our center. It may mean a quick trip into a restroom or a step outside for a few minutes. In those moments away, breathe deeply five times. Feel all of your senses fully. Look, smell and hear everything in your surroundings. Notice the colors of things, the texture of your clothing, or the smell of something close by. Take your mind away from the stress you left and focus on the moment you are living.
But, this is only a short-term fix. If the stress level is high you will need some time to wind down from it in more of a long term manner. Make plans to visit friends or family and relax with them. Take a day at a park or a beach. Go on a road trip by yourself and do some window shopping. Do something to clear your mind and live in the moment.
We can’t avoid stress in the world we live in. Chaos has become something we can count on these days. Although we can’t control it, we can control our reactions to it.
What do you do to find your peace?
