Since I have begun this blog people from all walks of life have meandered in, taken a walk around and read from the pages showing the inner workings of my mind. Some of them have been inspired by my willingness to be open. Others have indicated they have been inspired to action by some of the things I have written about. And, there are those who have been upset at my words.
This blog is directed toward women, although there have been men who have read and been inspired as well. My tagline is “Writer Empath Woman”. These are the people I hope to reach with my words. I want to be the one who helps a woman find the strength that has been inside her all along. There will be writers out there who can find something in here that will touch their souls. And for the empaths, although I don’t blog much about that, they will find solace here in an understanding companion on this journey of life.
I do not avoid hard topics. Although I do try to keep the topics family friendly for the most part, I’m not above bringing up things others are afraid to talk about. A strong opinionated woman with a compassionate heart, I will avoid arguments if it’s possible. However, I will not back down once it’s been brought to my doorstep.
Topics have come to me in the middle of conversations, from dreams in the middle of the night, or maybe even something in the news. As writers naturally do, I write from the heart. My best posts were written without thinking about them. They were the emotions in my heart at the time.
Currently I have begun taking an active role in a group helping to support survivors of abuse in my county. It is at the top of my mind so many times. I’ve met a woman who is stronger than anyone I’ve ever met. She was a victim of incest, carrying her father’s baby three different times. She escaped only to end up back in his evil clutches. Another survivor had a knife held to her throat. And yet another was sexually assaulted by her husband in front of their children. These women inspired me just listening to their stories.
These women are why some of my latest posts have been a little more graphic and required a little more love and undertanding. I want to be able to say that my words inspired more women to escape their jail cells, and their own personal hell to find a new life of strength, courage and freedom.
Some of these survivors find healing in writing just as I do. Or they tell their stories to a captive audience waiting to hear that justice was done in the end. Unfortunately not all of the stories end with justice winning. Our world, the systems are not just. I want to be a part of changing that. There are women out there reading my words and thinking to themselves, “She’s writing about me”. It may be they are victims of abuse. Or perhaps they are inspired enough by my words to take action in their hometowns to help and change things.
Whichever of these readers you are, I would love to connect with you. If you are a victim, let me be the inspiration to help you find a way out. There is life out there without bruised hearts and black eyes. And if you are looking to make a change in your town and community, let me tell you what we have done. Reach out to me in an email or a comment.
If we want to see a change in the world, we have to BE the change in the world.
