I’ve heard so many people utter these words lately: “I hate this world today.” And just as many people would agree with the sentiment. Life has grown much harder to get through.
Almost everyone is struggling financially. Lines seem to be drawn between “the haves” and “the have-nots”. Those in the middle are lumped into one category or the other based on the situation of those speaking. Anyone who is even just holding their own is considered a “have” because there are so many more who are drowning despite their best efforts.
Narcissism, egotism, and cruelty have risen dramatically in just a number of years. Empaths and those who are compassionate and caring are sheltering themselves away from the world more and more because of the toxicity of the world around them. It takes longer for us to recover after being around people than it ever did.
But that’s where the problem lies. This world is overrun with the negatives of life because that’s where a lot of the focus goes. If we focus on our troubles or cruelty, that’s what we will see more of. We need to look for the good.
Hate this world we live in now. I think most of us do. But ask yourself what you can do to make a difference in it. It doesn’t have to be a world we hate.
Each of us can make a difference in the world. We don’t have to make a difference in the big picture. We can make a difference in the world around us so we don’t hate this world.
No matter who you are, you have something valuable to share with the world. We are all “haves” when it comes to things like kindness, compassion, and friendliness. And the funny thing about those things is that in order to fill our own coffers, we have to share what we have. In giving, we receive.
Going shopping? Ask someone if they want to ride with you. Smile at everyone you meet at the store, especially if they look grumpy or sad. You may have just made their day.
Check out local groups that help people in need. It may be just your time that you can donate, but that is often worth more than financial help.
If we hate this world, it’s only because we haven’t done our part to try to cheer it up a bit. We may not be able to make huge political changes ourselves. There’s no way we can solve the homeless dilemma ourselves. There are a lot of big things we can’t change on our own.
But we can start a change that others can join with us. Two caring hearts. Four voices. Eight people donating their time. Set the example. Help create a world you don’t have to hate.
