In February of this year, I thought I had written the last post I would be able to publish in this blog. Having to quit my job has left the coffers rather empty. It’s hard to justify paying $160 for a hosting fee for a blog when you need to pay a bill of higher priority — like a mortgage, or an electric bill.
I’m stubborn, and perhaps I suffer from a bit of pride, but I don’t like to ask for help from others, even when the struggles are dire. I don’t like burdening friends or family. Therefore, I didn’t ask for help in keeping this blog up and running either. I just resigned myself to the fact that it would be yet one more thing I would have to get used to not having due to financial issues.
Wes Saves The Day
My friend, Wes, helped me initially set this blog up two years ago. Even after all this time, I’m rather naive about how all of this web stuff works. I can surf and search with confidence. But, even setting up this blog through WordPress was a challenge for me. There’s still a lot I don’t understand.
I was working on setting up a site for Dan as well, to showcase the fishing jigs and ties that he makes by hand. However, I hadn’t accomplished much on it before hosting ran out in March.
Wes checked in with me to see how things were going, and I had to admit that I had to give it up due to the financial issues. I explained that I had paid the fees to save the domain names so they couldn’t be taken. But, I couldn’t justify another year of hosting fees.
And being the wonderful friend that he is, Wes saved the blog. He has a server that was not being used and offered to host my pages for me. After a lot of hassle with the original hosting company, Ipage, we transferred everything to his server. He was even able to transfer all the previous posts and data so it wasn’t lost.
The Write Empath Is Back
And so, thewriteempath.com is back up and running again. I’m extremely grateful to Wes. He has been a wonderful friend in so many ways. In bringing this blog back online he has brought a huge smile to my face. He has given my voice back.
For a while, I will not be posting on a regular schedule. I want to take this opportunity to edit and update the previous posts to polish them up a bit. The content will still be the same, but I want to give them a more professional look.
The Write Empath is back!
