I’m going to start a gratitude journal. As I’ve mentioned previously, I don’t do resolutions anymore because I’m horrible about keeping them. By the end of January I’ve usually fallen off the wagon. So I won’t call this a resolution, but a goal. I want to focus on gratitude and happiness in 2025
Since I do a lot of writing and journaling, I always have random empty journals available to use whenever I want to start something new. So, today, January 1, 2025, I opened a brand new empty journal to start logging moments of gratitude. I’ll also include any moments or days of joy and happiness.
The idea is to focus on the positives in my life, no matter how hard it is to find them. There is always something to be grateful for, even if it’s just for the fact that I woke up and my husband and dogs are still here with me in the morning. Honestly, those are BIG reasons to show gratitude for.
Journals are easily accessible, but any notebook will work. I love pretty little journals, but I’ve also used a plain old spiral notebook when I needed to write and it’s all I had available. You can decorate them up if you want. I bought this one at Walmart and I’ve seen it available online as well.
The only requirement is that you use it! Keep it handy so when you feel something special, when you find a reason to feel gratitude, you can log it as soon as possible. Hold onto those little moments. LOOK for those moments.
It’s easy for us humans to find and focus on the negatives. But, we can retrain ourselves to find the joys and pleasures in our life. Keeping a gratitude journal is a good way to that.
Will you join me? Share photos of your personal journal. What things are you grateful for in your life?
