Society is killing individuality. In today’s world, it’s not OK to be different in any way. Everyone looks like a clone of each other. It’s unacceptable to believe anything different from what society deems “right.”
Individuality in building design is long gone. Remember when we had ornate churches and government buildings? When people took pride in the decorative look they portrayed. Fine detail was important.
Today’s world is plain. Buildings are flat and unadorned. They appear stiff and unfeeling. There is no character to them anymore.
People are no different. Anyone who looks “different” or believes “differently” is an outcast. There’s a silent war against individuality. Society wants clones.
Where are my rebels? Where are those of us who value our independence and individuality? I know I’m not the only one who will stand up against looking like everyone else.
I have always taken pride in being different from everyone else. There’s value to standing out in a crowd. It’s not as much about attention as it is about being my own person.
I don’t want to be “just like everyone else.” Following the crowd is not anything I’ve ever been accused of. If anyone is going to be “different” in a group, it will usually be me.
Followers seldom change the world. They are too busy trying to be like everyone else, to think like everyone else. The world changers are those who can think outside the box, find a different way to get somewhere, or are willing to take a chance on impossibilities.
And today’s society doesn’t like individuality. It wants followers. It wants everyone to fall into line and be good little sheep.
Don’t rock the boat. Don’t be different. Follow the leader. Obey. Buy. Sleep. You lose yourself to fit into society.
Don’t be that person.
